Installing
Most of these steps were taken right off the maven web page under Unix-based operating systems.
1. Download Maven - http://maven.apache.org/download.cgi 2. Extract the distribution archive, i.e. apache-maven-3.2.5-bin.tar.gz to the directory you wish to install Maven 3.2.5. These instructions assume you chose /usr/local/apache-maven. The subdirectory apache-maven-3.2.5 will be created from the archive. 3. OSX Java 6 Problem
There is an issue with java 6 and not finding the tools.jar file.
